How aware are you of your boundaries?
Do you feel it as soon as they are overstepped, by yourself or by others?
Or do you only find out about the overstepping much later?
In Joey’s words: “Over the line? You're so far past the line that you can't even see the line! The line is a dot to you!” (for the Friends-fans out there ;-))
Sometimes, I am so into a work activity, that I forget to eat. And those who know me personally, know that’s quite unusual. I finish my task and suddenly realize I’m incredibly hungry. So while my brain was in the flow, I lost the connection with my body. And I missed its subtle signals.
Whether it comes to eating, work or social activities, your body is a key information source for telling you when enough has been enough. Unfortunately, more and more people are becoming less in touch with how they feel physically.
How aware are you of how you’re feeling right now?
Are there any areas of tension you can locate in your body?
Any areas of ease?
Can you notice your breath, and its rhythm?
I would like to invite you to regularly check in with yourself. To be curious about what your body has to say to you.
So you can start to get a good understanding of your “baseline” state, and you can notice more easily when things are out of the ordinary.
